On Wednesday one of the world’s biggest news organisations made a startling admission.
In a remarkable statement, Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers offered a “full and unequivocal apology” for The Sun and News of the World’s use of private investigators to illegally obtain private information about Prince Harry and Labour Lord Tom Watson.
Now you might expect that this striking admission of illegally activity by a major news organisation, against a senior member of the Royal Family and a Government minister, would be treated as a huge story of national importance.
If so, you would be wrong.
