As the US President begins his plan for mass deportations, Kemi Badenoch's Conservative party is openly cribbing its political strategy from the far-right
I read two articles that stuck in my mind recently one by Peter Geoghegan which revealed Starmer is taking donations from hedge funds and another was Carole Cadwalladr’s about him putting an ex Amazon CEO in charge of regulation after sacking the previous one here. These are journalists I trust. That really bothers me. Keir Starmer is not good at selling himself even if he has the will to improve things and given those articles I’m no longer convinced he does. In fact I’m worried he’s the devil we don’t know.
Conservatives just sound nuts as well as toxic. They just don’t seem like a serious party anymore. I think Brexit and Partygate turned us all off the Tories but Reform could benefit from the frustration felt but I hope not. They’re no better.
It's all dreadfully depressing. But what I don't understand is what Badenoch sees when she looks in a mirror. Does she see a white woman looking back at her? Does she not notice she's black skinned and therefore high on the hate list of the racists, the type of which she's courting?
They won't shout about deporting immigrants and distinguish between brown and black, born here or not. She's no different to the people they fervently want to "send home" so what gives in her mind? I don't get it. Same for Patel, who sneered as the police dragged other brown people out of their beds in dawn raids and Braverman who thinks she's some kind of genius but is just as brown as the muslims she speaks against.
Well argued again Adam. As Trump’s term in power progresses I think most of the British will see what this means in graphic colour. We need a champion to lead the British and defeat again the danger of such people. Starmer does not look like a great orator. My guess is if the polls in another 18 months stay the same with Starmer in the 20%s he will be ditched for a more principled politician with the oratorial skills to do this job, and wipe out Brexit and the far right. Will the Mayor of Manchester want it? Who else? Maybe a backbencher we have never heard of?
Coherent, concise and incisive political analysis of key emerging strands in British politics. Refreshing.
