Is this What British Politics is About to Look Like?
Could Ed Davey and the Liberal Democrats be about to pull off the most shocking election result in modern British history?
There’s a striking new YouGov poll out today which finds support for the Conservative party has fallen to its lowest level this Parliament.
This in itself is noteworthy, as is the fact that Nigel Farage’s Reform UK are now just one point shy of the Conservatives on 17%.
However, there is another far more significant aspect of this poll which almost nobody is yet picking up on.
What hardly anyone is talking about is the fact that when you feed the poll into an election seat forecaster it puts the Conservatives not in second place, but third.
This is not a one off. In fact there have been a whole series of polls over the past week which all point towards the Conservative party slipping into third place.
And while most of the media is still focusing on the rise in support for Nigel Farage’s party, what all of these polls show is that it is actually another party which now looks on course to take its place among the big two of British politics.
