Keir Starmer's 'good managers versus bad managers' strategy could backfire for Labour
The Labour leader's attempts to win over Brexit voters have not been very convincing.
Keir Starmer’s comments earlier this week that he would seek to exploit the “opportunities” of Brexit were jarring for a couple of reasons.
First of all, it’s not clear that any actually exist.
The fact that some six years after the referendum, the new ‘Brexit Opportunities Minister’ has been reduced to asking readers of the The Sun what they might be, suggests that the search for Brexit “opportunities” has not gone well.
Indeed if any such opportunities did exist, we would be hearing a lot about them.
Instead the best case the government has made for their existence has been to lie about our ability to put crown stamps on pint glasses.
In the absence of any better examples, we can safely assume that the search for the bottom of the barrel has been well and truly completed.
