Making predictions at the start of a general election year is always a risky business. So much of what I am about to set out could be completely derailed by events that are currently impossible to predict.
However, while massive political upsets do sometimes happen, they are fairly rare. For the most part, it is possible to foresee the broad outlines of what is to come.
So as Britain heads towards what is set to be one of the dirtiest and most desperate election campaigns in living memory, here’s how I expect events to play out.
