Spot on. The main threat to freedom of speech is that you are now not allowed to call a racist person who actively says racist things a racist. Next phase is you won't be allowed to condemn racist violence as such.

If we don't want to become Trump's America people (including Labour) need to realise this is being driven by a minority of rightwing media outlets.

I think everyone should watch the clip of Congressman Jamie Raskin tearing a strip off Nigel. It is exquisite 👌

Thank you for all you do, Adam.

I saw the headlines in the Daily Heil and Daily Excrement in the supermarket (a good way of gauging what they're up to without having to pass money to their owners) and my heart sank. They do at least as much damage as Farage himself. Just like him, they twist every story or indulge in outright lies. I understand how it works in the USA, because the requirement for some measure of neutrality in broadcasting was actually removed (yes, TV not print, but since most Americans don't seem to read there is an equivalence). Unless we can find some way of enforcing reasonable standards of accurate reporting here, the canker will continue to fester, they'll be ever more emboldened and the gullible will continue to swallow these lies. Perhaps rather than publish retractions on page 94 they could be barred from printing one day's edition. Something that would hit their profits. Yes, difficult, but without some action we'll be back in the 30s.

Evidential argument. Great. Starmer if he wants to attack Farage should read this script.
