The BBC Surrenders to Trump
The capitulation of our national broadcaster to the political forces most determined to destroy it is a worrying sign of things to come
Much has already been written about the various major US news and media organisations that have caved to political pressure from Donal Trump over recent months.
These capitulations, although contemptible in themselves, could at least be understood in the context of the President’s overwhelming legal, political, and commercial powers over the US market.
How though are we to explain the BBC’s decision to do the same, but from the apparent safety of the other side of the Atlantic?
In truth, the seeds of this surrender have been a long time coming.
