The Great Disappointment
Keir Starmer’s message to the country is that everything is broken and we’re going to do as little as we possibly can to fix it
On Thursday voters will go to the polls across the country for the last time before the general election.
While a couple of incumbent Conservative mayors may yet cling on, the overall result is set to be a massive vote of no confidence in Rishi Sunak’s party.
The reasons for this are obvious. Polls show that, across the board, voters believe public services are broken, the economy is failing and the Government has all the wrong ideas about how to fix it.
Given these facts you might expect the opposition Labour party to be waiting in the wings with a radical set of proposals to fix ‘Broken Britain’.
Yet today brings two big pieces of news which suggest the opposite could well turn out to be the case.
