Nigel Farage’s entire political career has been based on what is essentially a confidence trick.
This trick has involved convincing a certain section of the population that he alone has the interests of “the people” at heart.
In reality the complete opposite is the case.
Far from working on behalf of the common man, Farage has always put his own interests first.
Instead of representing his constituents in Parliament, where he has taken part in just a handful of votes this year, we now learn that Farage has instead been personally enriching himself, whilst seeking to hide the sources of that enrichment from the public eye.
So will Farage’s desperate by-election gambit work, or has the confidence trick he has long pulled over the people of Britain finally run its course?
Here’s what I now expect to happen.
