Trump's Illegal Assault on Venezuela Opens the Door to Even Darker Foreign Adventures
It's time for the President's apologists to admit that those of us warning about the grave global threat he poses were right
Trump’s illegal overnight assault on Venezuela, following by his kidnapping of its President, should remove any remaining doubts about the kind of man we now have in the White House.
Conducted less than a month after he was awarded the Fifa Peace Prize for his “exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace”, Trump’s attack on this sovereign American nation opens the door to other, even darker foreign adventures.
Is Greenland now safe? Is Mexico? Is even Canada?
Trump’s attack, which was conducted without the approval of Congress, or America’s allies, also has big ramifications for the UK.
Before his return to the White House, Trump’s British cheerleader Boris Johnson predicted that he would make the world “safer and more stable” while Nigel Farage insisted Trump would be a “global peacemaker” who would prevent America from engaging in an “endless series of foreign wars”.
It’s now clear that the opposite is the case. The world wakes up this morning a much more dangerous place, with the future of Ukraine and even Taiwan now also in doubt, thanks to the actions of our supposedly ally.
Here’s why those of us warning about the threat Trump posed were right and why we should be even more frightened about what may happen next.
