In the days following the local election results a narrative began to develop in Westminster which suggested that Labour had somehow “not done enough” to be sure of winning the next General Election.

This has been followed by endless speculation about possible hung parliaments and coalitions between Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

As fun as such speculation always is, it does strike me as massively missing the real point of last week’s local election results, which is that Keir Starmer will now almost certainly be our next Prime Minister.
