Why Rishi Sunak is More Under Threat from Boris Johnson Than he Realises
The odds of another calamitous Boris Johnson comeback are growing by the week
When I first reported here last month about the prospect of a Boris Johnson comeback, there was a fair amount of scepticism from readers.
How could Johnson, freshly humiliated from his failed bid to win back the Conservative leadership, even consider another run at the top job?
Yet in the intervening weeks, there has been a steady stream of new reports suggesting that just such an attempt is now in play.
In has now emerged that Johnson has received a record £1 million donation from a Brexit-backing crypto-investor, while other reports suggest that there are live attempts to secure him a safe seat.
As I reported in December, the local elections in May are now being lined up as the point of maximum danger for Sunak and maximum opportunity for Johnson.
So is Rishi Sunak’s position now in more danger than he realises, or is there something else going on here?
