The open corruption of the honours system tells you everything you need to know about how power really works in the UK
It is sometimes said that justice in the UK is strong on the weak, but weak on the strong. So while the Government fills its time creating new laws to criminalise the poor and homeless, systematic and large scale corruption and criminality by the Government’s own rich and powerful associates goes largely unchecked.
Nowhere can this be seen more clearly than with the Britain’s honours system.
For decades, this system has been sold to the public as being about rewarding public service, good work and charity.
In reality it is anything but. Far from being about encouraging good ethics in public life, it is in fact about encouraging the complete opposite.
Few people looking honestly at the situation could conclude otherwise.
Indeed it is impossible to look seriously at the long list of Conservative donors and cronies who have been handed knighthoods and peerages over recent years, without concluding that the system is now essentially corrupt.
For the simple price of a large donation to the Conservative Party, it has become possible to openly buy your way into the highest levels of British society.
So why are so few people talking about it?
