“Someone should kill him”. Imagine if someone had. Tories would no doubt have distanced themselves from Mullins then. But no one did so he was able to say he went too far and get away with it. With a campaign like Goldsmith’s it’s quite possible that what happened to Jo Cox could have happened to Sadiq Khan. We know that because he needed protection regardless of Mullins tweet. They’re so embedded with the Press that they’re not being held to account so Goldsmith probably feels they have nothing to lose. Until something happens. Then they’d no doubt blame it on something else but not themselves. But the public would blame them if something happened. I’m convinced of that.
I think Sadiq Khan is being singled out for being Labour Mayor and he’s won again. It’s as if they think London belongs them to them by right. They’re all London-centric. Living in this Westminster bubble. So they latch on to his being muslim to use Islamaphobia to undermine him. Their press use it too.
What worries me a lot is this is such common a tactic now. Tories are so blatantly vicious in their press, campaigning, social media etc that the public are becoming desensitised to it. There was a time when anyone saying what Mullins said would never have got away with it. Particularly in the wake of Jo Cox’s murder. Do Tory MPs ever think to turn around and look at the plaques of murdered MPs that line the walls of the House of Commons before the next thing happens.
I think this is a minority issue. Tory / UKIP / Reform. For a long time UK has been multi racial. Mixture of Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, middle eastern, European and probably others. We see that with Indian and Pakistani business, many in IT. Tolerance has accepted all this in the main. When I worked in Europe for some time when we could, outsiders told me several times how well the UK had integrated.
Prof. Mike Cole has written a book tracing “Racism and the Tory Party: From Disraeli to Johnson”. I haven’t read it as it’s a bit pricey but it gets good reviews. Tory hate is very eclectic and includes any group that threatens their right to rule.
The Tories are disgusting.

Not sure what the benefits of giving oxygen to this notoriously twisted minority are. They'll love it of course.
There's always going to be an ugly minority. This is about the mainstream demonisation, which provides its own oxygen
